Founded in 1958, the Anna Maria Island Power Squadron is a non-profit, educational organization on the West Coast of Florida dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in seamanship, navigations and related subjects and through on-the-water recreational activities.

Our members are part of a boating family comprised of some 60,000 members and 450 squadrons of the United States Power Squadrons^® (USPS^®), America's largest non-profit boating organization. As part of its effort to promote safe boating, the Squadron provides a number of courses and workshops open to the public, (see public courses), at its headquarters in Northwest Bradenton.

What educational courses are available to USPS members?

Our squadron offers courses in subjects like Seamanship, Piloting, Plotting and Position Finding, Engine Maintenance, Marine Electronics, Sailing and Cruise Planning. These courses are taught by experienced member instructors.

What social activities do members enjoy?

Participating both on-the-water and off with fellow members who are skilled in boating is a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Activities ashore include meetings with marine programs, parties, and field trips.

Membership is for anyone who shares our common love of boating, has passed one of our public boating courses, and is at least 18 years of age.
